In an efforts to put smiles on the faces of Widows and Orphans in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nasidi Masjid Islamic Foundation, on Monday distributed cash, clothes and Food items to over 200 orphans widows ans elderly people in Angwan-Kura community in Lokoja.
The Overseer of the Foundation, Alhaji Musa Tanimu Nasidi, said the gesture was to support the orphans to celebrate the coming eid-el- fitri with joy like other Muslims kids.
Nasidi, who is the publisher of the Analyst newspaper said it has been the tradition of the Foundation to annually distribute new clothes and foodstuff to Muslim orphans and widows, in an effort to put smile on their faces like others in the society.
He said : “this is an annual event, for years, in which we distribute Sallah Clothes and Foodstuffs to the orphans, widows in this community.
“We have been doing it as an annual event, where we seek support from individuals in the Society.
” The items we have from them includes Money, clothes and other relevant materials for the Orphans.
“I wish to use this medium to call, on Non governmental organizations as well as wealthy individuals to come to our aid through giving out part of what Allah has blessed them with.”
In his speech at the event the Hakimi of Ward D, Alhaji Isah Nasidi, emphasized the need for assisting orphans, where he quoted verses from Holy Qur’an and Hadith of Holy Prophet Muhammad (pboh), that the Prophet said ” I am with those who assist an orphan in Paradise.”
The Hakimi enumerated the importance of assisting orphans which he said, “if you want to progress in any live endeavors, please assist an orphan you will see what will happen.
“Therefore our wealthy individuals should spend their wealth in the course through assisting Orphans.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Kola Adeyemi, charged wealthy individuals in the society to always assist the widows and orphans in the community.
According to him, this will reduce hardship in our community.
”We should be able to assist orphans in our Communities this will curb insecurity, because some of those who involved in criminal and criminalities were among those neglected in the society,” Adeyemi stressed.
Responding, one of the orphans that received the donations, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for remembering them always.
He recalled that the same Foundation, last year gave them new clothes, foodstuff and money for Sallah celebrations.
