Kaduna – Kaduna State government on Wednesday directed political appointees and public servants aspiring to contest the 2023 general election to resign their appointments on or before March 31, 2022.
The directive was contained in a circular issued in Kaduna by the Secretary to the State Government, Balarabe Lawal Abbas.
The circular addressed to the heads of tertiary institutions, political appointees and top government officials reminded them of the provision of the new Electoral Act 2022 assented by President Muhammadu Buhari and as released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It noted that the Act categorically provides that political appointees and public servants aspiring for elective offices are expected to resign 30 days before the primary election of the specific post they are aspiring for.
“In compliance with the provision, all political appointees, and other public servants serving in the state government aspiring for political offices should submit their letters of resignation to the Secretary to the State Government on or before 31st, March 2022.
“This is for your information and strict compliance please,” the circular stated. (vitalnews)
