President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday evening arrived the nation’s capital, Abuja after attending the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, convened by His Majesty, King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud, the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The President returned to Abuja at about 08:11 pm at the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
He was received by officials in his cabinets: the Chief of Staff, Ministers, Security Chief, and other high profiles.
The summit was focused on current issues in the Middle East.
During talks with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, President Tinubu said Nigeria backs an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and supports a two-state solution, “where both Israelis and Palestinians can co-exist in security and dignity.”
He says this solution remains a viable part of lasting peace in the region.
Tinubu called on parties in the Middle East conflict to respect the principles of proportionality and the basic rights of civilians, consistent with global legal and diplomatic frameworks.
He argues : “In a rules-based international order, states have the right of self-defense. “But self-defense must take proportionality into account, in line with global legal, diplomatic, and moral frameworks.
“An entire civilian population, their dreams and futures, cannot be dismissed as collateral.”
