Lagos – The Special Offences Mobile Court sitting in Oshodi area of Lagos has convicted a socialite , Ms Ogbulu Chindinma Pearl to two years and three months imprisonment for distributing petrol as a souvenir at a social party.
The court presided over by Magistate Kehinde Ogundare found the socialite guilty as charged before it by the Lagos State government
Ogbulu was accused of distributing petrol as a souvenir during her installation party on March 5, at Havillah Event Centre, Lagos.
At the resumed hearing of the suit on March 24, the defendant changed her plea from not guilty to guilty on the 1st count, 2nd count and 3rd count charges preferred against her.
With this development, Magistrate Ogundare, held that the prosecution has successfully proven the charges against the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt and thereby convicted and sentenced her accordingly.
She was then ordered to pay a fine of N15,000 or three months imprisonment on the first count and a fine of N500,000 or one year imprisonment on the second count.
She was also ordered to pay a fine of N500,000 or one year imprisonment on the third count, bringing the total fines to N1.15 million.(vitalnews)
