More Than Two Years After, Body Of Ex – Senate President Joseph Wayas Arrives Nigeria

Almost three years after, the remains of the late former President of the Senate, Dr. Joseph Wayas, have finally been brought to Nigeria.

His remains were brought to Nigeria from London through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday.

Wayas died on November 30, 2021, at the age of 80, and his body had been in a London hospital morgue since then.

The casket containing his corpse was received by family members, relations, friends, and prominent Cross River State indigenes.

The body was taken to the morgue at the National Hospital Abuja.

Senator Jarigbe Agom and Hon. Peter Akpanke expressed relief and happiness that Wayas’ remains had finally been brought home.

The late wife’s family also expressed gratitude for the efforts that led to his return.

It should be recalled that despite a N250 million budget, the Cross River State government’s committee headed by Kanu Agabi was unsuccessful in repatriating Wayas’ remains.

However, a volunteer group, “Who is Who in Northern Cross River,” coordinated donations from concerned indigenes, to ensure a befitting burial for the former Senate President.

No date has been fixed for his burial. (vitalnewsngr.com)
