The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title on 87 legal practitioners.
The Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, Hajo Sarki Bello, announced this in a statement on Thursday.
Bello said the LPPC under the Chairmanship of Justice Kayode Ariwoola considered and approved the elevation of the lawyers at its 164th plenary held on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the LPPC also considered five different petitions written against some of the Applicants and determined that each of the petitions lacked merit and accordingly dismissed same.
Bello, said the swearing-in ceremony of the 87 successful Applicants is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Some of the successful applicants include former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL), Monday Ubani, Deremi Oguntoye, Chukwudi Enebeli, Wendy Kuku, Mofesomo Tayo-Oyetibo amongst others.
The lone academic applicant is Prof. Ganiu Adeyemi. (vitalnewsngr.com)
