Ogbomoso – Former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao Akala was found dead in his bathroom, one of his aides told BBC News Yoruba on Thursday in Ogbomoso.
According to the aide, the former governor was found dead in a sitting position with chin in his palm.
He said Akala did not show any sign of sickness and had actually woke up hale and hearty on Wednesday morning to greet people around him.
” He also made calls to some people and scheduled meetings with political groups, individuals and associates,” the aide told BBC News Yoruba.
After, he said the deceased went back to his bedroom and was expected to come back to the dinning room for his breakfast but he did not show up.
This he said prompted one of the people around to check him up in his bedroom.
“On getting to the room, he was not there and the person decided to call him out but no response.
“The person came out to inform others who then followed him to Akala”s room.
” They decided to look for him and he was found in the bathroom sitting on WC with his chin in his palm.
” From there, they rushed him to a hospital where he was confirmed dead,” he said.
The aide confirmed that Akala actually came back to Ogbomoso from Abuja on Tuesday at about 11am.
He also said that the late governor , himself and others watched the Afcon2022 match between Nigeria and Egypt in the evening of Tuesday at Akala’s house in Ogbomoso.
He said that they with him in his house till about 8pm when they all left for their various houses, describing his death as a rude shock. (vitalnews)
