Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has told his ministers not to be distracted by activities for the 2023 elections.

He said this at the closing ceremony of the 2022 ministerial performance review retreat, held in Abuja.

He said the business of government must continue to receive the necessary attention , notwithstanding the start of campaigns for the 2023 general election.

Buhari said, “Consequently, all ministers, permanent secretaries, and heads of agencies must remain focused in the discharge of their duties, as any infraction will be viewed seriously.

”Our collective goal is to map out a transition plan for the incoming administration to ensure proper documentation of all the policies, programmes, and projects of government with up-to-date status of implementation.”

The President asked government officials to double efforts and work in synergy toward delivery of the administration’s targets.

He addef that lessons learned in the last three years of implementing the administration’s projects would serve as the needed tool to propel every ministry towards delivering mandates.

He also said his administration would continue to “prosecute high-profile corruption cases and ensure speedy completion”, while promoting economic and sustainable development.

Buhari also spoke on his administration’s efforts in completing projects and delivering on promises, adding that he looks forward to handing over his legacies to his successor which would serve as a mechanism for the next administration to follow.
