Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared tomorrow, Friday, October 4th , as a public holiday to enable the people of the state to participate in the Local Government election holding on, Saturday, October 5.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Tersoo Kula, announces the public holiday in a statement on Thursday.
Alia said the work-free day is to allow the electorate to exercise their franchise in their local government areas.
Alia stressed the importance of active participation in the electoral process and encouraged citizens to take advantage of the day to exercise their civic duty.
He expressed confidence that the elections would be conducted smoothly and fairly with the right commitment and participation.
