Lokoja – A discreet opinion
poll conducted for five leading aspirants contesting for the
House of Representatives ticket for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come out in favour of Otunba Michael Olaiya Olobatoke.
The opinion poll which was carried out randomly among delegates, party leaders, opinion leaders and political analysts within and outside the constituency saw Olobatoke having an upper hand over other four contestants.
The other contestants are Architect Idris Salman from Aiyegunle- gbedde in Ijumu Local Government, Okejuji Obatotoyinbo from Iyamoye also in Ijumu local government, Oluwafemi Olumeyan from Akiutupa Kiri, and Yomi Bello both from Kabba-Bunu Local government.
The results of the random poll saw Olobatoke having the overall lead with 45 per cent, Salman, 40 per cent, Olumeyan, 7 per cent, Bello, 5 per cent and Obatotoyinbo, 3 per cent.
A further breakdown of the outcome of the opinion showed that Olobatoke, who is the youngest of the aspirants is generally accepted among the party leaders, youths and women in the two local government areas that make up the constituency.
Atotal of 258 delegates are expected to vote in the May 22 party primary which will take place at Olonijola Event Centre on Lokoja – Kabba road, starting from 2pm.
The delegates consist of 45 ward delegates each from Ijumu and Kabba-Bunu local government areas, making a total of 90 delegates.
They are to be joined by 150 delegates,comprising of local government party executives and adhoc/ statutory delegates, all totalling 258 delegates. (vitalnews)
